1996 Atlantic and Northeast Pacific Hurricanes

During 1996, the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific experienced an average hurricane season. Thirteen of the 21 tropical storms reached hurricane strength. The hurricane season runs from the begining of June through the end of november with peak activity during August and September. The 1968 to 1989 seasonal average for the North Atlantic and Northeast Pacific combined is 26.2 tropical storms with 14.3 reaching hurricane strength.
