1 US Historic Declination Calculator This programs derives a table of secular change in magnetic declination for a specified point in the conterminous United States. It utilizes the USD polynomial and the IGRF spherical harmonic models. Declination is calculated using the current World Magnetic Model (WMM) or International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) model. While results are typically accurate to 30 minutes of arc, users should be aware that several environmental factors can cause disturbances in the magnetic field.

1 2000-03-15 USD was developed largely based on a ground-network of US repeat stations whose density and coveraged changed as the US settlements moved westward. The USD polynomial intentionally has as much "wiggle" in the declination lines as was possible to model to provide the most accurate model of declination for survey use.
1 IGRF 11 International Geomagnetic Reference Field 11 2010-10-12 The IGRF is the product of a collaborative effort between magnetic field modellers and the institutes involved in collecting and disseminating magnetic field data from satellites and from observatories and surveys around the world. The IGRF is a series of mathematical models of the Earth's main field and its annual rate of change (secular variation).
