The data were collected on the following dates: Hawaii (Big Island): 20070123-20070210 Kauai: 20070112-20070210 Maui: 20070111-20070127 Molokai: 20070111-20070127 Oahu: 20070112-20070210 The data points representing bare earth have been classified as such using TerraScan with results provided in the classified las files. Classification value "1" means "Unclassified" and a value "2" means "Ground." The data were collected and processed in geographic coordinates and ellipsoid heights. The positions are relative to NAD83 HARN in decimal degrees of longitude and latitude. The heights were converted from ellipsoid to geoid (NAVD88) heights using the Geoid03 model with the results in meters. These heights were then adjusted to Mean Sea Level. The NOAA Coastal Services Center left the data in the tidal vertical datum and the Geotiff tags were updated to reflect this datum. No vertical transforms will be performed on this data during provisioning. purpose: The purpose of the 2007 Hawaii survey, in general, was to collect both bathymetric and topographic lidar along the northern coastline of the Hawaiian Islands. Topographic data were required between the zero and 15 meter contours, nominal, for the northern coastline of the islands of Hawaii (Big Island), Kauai, Maui, Molokai, and Oahu. Bathymetric Lidar data collection was attempted in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, to fill-in the data gaps between the shoreline and the previously collected SHOALS data. Bathymetric Lidar data were collected on the island of Hawaii from Honolii Stream south along the shoreline to the existing SHOALS data. The data were to be collected from the land water interface seaward to a depth of 40 meters or laser extinction, whichever comes first. These data were collected for Hawaii State Civil Defense for tsunami mapping purposes. The manager for this project was Milton Yoshimoto (808) 438-2250. credit: Acknowledgement of the Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise (JALBTCX) would be appreciated in any publications or derived products. status: (MD_ProgressCode) completed resourceMaintenance: (MD_MaintenanceInformation) maintenanceAndUpdateFrequency: (MD_MaintenanceFrequencyCode) asNeeded descriptiveKeywords: (MD_Keywords) keyword: Bathymetry/Topography keyword: Lidar keyword: elevation type: (MD_KeywordTypeCode) theme thesaurusName: (CI_Citation) title: None date: descriptiveKeywords: (MD_Keywords) keyword: United States keyword: Hawaii keyword: Hawaii (Big Island) keyword: Kauai keyword: Oahu keyword: Maui keyword: Molokai type: (MD_KeywordTypeCode) place thesaurusName: (CI_Citation) title: None date: descriptiveKeywords: (MD_Keywords) keyword: January 2007 keyword: February 2007 type: (MD_KeywordTypeCode) temporal thesaurusName: (CI_Citation) title: None date: resourceConstraints: (MD_Constraints) useLimitation: Any conclusions drawn from the analysis of this information are not the responsibility of JALBTCX, the Coastal Services Center or its partners. These gaps are caused when the ground elevation rises so high that the lidar swath (based on maximum scan angles and altitude) from adjacent flight lines no longer overlap. These gaps are at elevations above that maximum required for this project. The data postings are very consistent with postings nominally at 1.3 m density. result: report: (DQ_ConceptualConsistency) measureDescription: The data provided in this file were tested against ground truth data. At these locations the lidar data matched within 0.20 meters, and different flight line data agreed within 0.20 meters. result: report: (DQ_QuantitativeAttributeAccuracy) nameOfMeasure: Quantitative Attribute Accuracy Assessment measureDescription: These data are not attributed. evaluationMethodDescription: These data are not attributed. result: (DQ_QuantitativeResult) valueUnit: BaseUnit: identifier: meters unitsSystem: http://www.bipm.org/en/si/ value: Record: N/A lineage: (LI_Lineage) processStep: (LE_ProcessStep) description: These data were collected using the CHARTS surveys system. It is owned by the Naval Oceanographic Office and Operated through contract. The system collects topographic lidar data at 20 kHz and hydrographic data at 3 kHz. The system also collects RGB imagery at 1Hz. A CASI-1500 hyperspectral line scanner is integrated with the system as well. Aircraft position, velocity and acceleration information are collected through a combination of Novatel and POS A/V equipment. Raw data are collected and transferred to the office for downloading and processing in SHOALS GCS software. GPS data are processed using POSPac software and the results are combined with the lidar data to produce 3-D positions for each lidar shot. These data are edited using Fledermaus software where anomalous data are removed from the dataset. The edited data are written to the national grid system 1 km tiles using chartsLAS, a program written by NAVO. The data are converted from ellipsoid to orthometric heights, based on the GEOID03 model, within the chartsLAS program. The LAS files output from chartsLAS were read into TerraScan and filters were applied to classify ground points. Points designated as ground are assigned a classification value "2" and all other points are assigned the classification value "1" which represents an unclassified state. dateTime: DateTime: 2007-11-14T00:00:00 processor: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: JALBTCX positionName: Data Production Manager contactInfo: (CI_Contact) phone: (CI_Telephone) voice: 228-252-1121 voice: 228-252-1111 facsimile: 228-252-1133 address: (CI_Address) deliveryPoint: 7225 Stennis Airport Road, STE 100 city: Kiln administrativeArea: MS postalCode: 39556 country: USA electronicMailAddress: shoals-info@sam.usace.army.mil hoursOfService: 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday role: (CI_RoleCode) processor source: #03DS07006_001_070111_1818_A source: #03DS07006_001_070114_1855_A source: #03DS07006_002_070127_0122_A processStep: (LE_ProcessStep) description: The NOAA Coastal Services Center (CSC) received files in las format. The data received compressed containing LiDAR data from the NOAA Coastal Services Center. The data are currently being served via Digital Coastl at http://www.csc.noaa.gov/digitalcoast/. The data can be used to re-populate the system. The data are provided in LAS format. LAS format is an industry standard for serving LiDAR data. The data are exclusively in geographic coordinates, however, the datums used vary. Most are NAD 83, however some are in ITRF. Vertical systems include both ellipsoid (ITRF and NAD 83) and NAVD 88. For NAVD 88 values, Geiod 03 is primarily used; however, data received in NAVD 88 prior to 2003 was processed using Geoid 99. dateTime: DateTime: 2011-06-10T00:00:00 processor: (CI_ResponsibleParty) individualName: Pamela Grothe organisationName: DOC/NOAA/NESDIS/NGDC > National Geophysical Data Center, NESDIS, NOAA, U.S. Department of Commerce contactInfo: (CI_Contact) phone: (CI_Telephone) voice: (303) 497-6120 facsimile: (303) 497-6513 address: (CI_Address) deliveryPoint: NOAA/NESDIS/NGDC E/GC1 325 Broadway city: Boulder administrativeArea: CO postalCode: 80305-3328 country: USA electronicMailAddress: pamela.grothe@noaa.gov hoursOfService: 7:30-5:00 Mountain contactInstructions: Contact Data Center role: (CI_RoleCode) processor source: (LI_Source) description: Source Contribution: LidarSource Type: hard drive sourceCitation: (CI_Citation) title: 2007 HI Hawaii CHARTS Survey date: (CI_Date) date: dateType: (CI_DateTypeCode) publication edition: 1 citedResponsibleParty: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: JALBTCX (comp.) role: (CI_RoleCode) originator presentationForm: (CI_PresentationFormCode) documentHardcopy otherCitationDetails: These data were collected by JALBTCX as project number 07006. sourceExtent: (EX_Extent) temporalElement: (EX_TemporalExtent) extent: TimePeriod: beginPosition: 2007-01-12 endPosition: 2007-02-10 return to top metadataMaintenance: (MD_MaintenanceInformation) maintenanceAndUpdateFrequency: (MD_MaintenanceFrequencyCode) annually dateOfNextUpdate: 2012-11-19 maintenanceNote: This metadata was automatically generated from the FGDC Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata standard (version FGDC-STD-001-1998) using the 2012-08-08 version of the FGDC RSE to ISO 19115-2 transform. maintenanceNote: Translated from FGDC 2012-10-10T10:39:57.961-06:00 maintenanceNote: Last Metadata Review Date: 2011-11-19 contact: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: NOAA Coastal Services Center positionName: Clearinghouse Manager contactInfo: (CI_Contact) phone: (CI_Telephone) voice: 843-740-1210 address: (CI_Address) city: Charleston administrativeArea: SC postalCode: 29405-2413 electronicMailAddress: clearinghouse@noaa.gov role: (CI_RoleCode) pointOfContact |
