Collection includes a variety of H-alpha photographic datasets contributed by a number of national and private solar observatories located worldwide. Solar observations in hydrogen-alpha (656.3 nm) reveal the structure and dynamics of chromospheric features including prominences, filaments, plague, filaments and the chromospheric network.

Collection consists of daily solar photographs and drawings.
Purpose: The NGDC Solar and Terrestrial Physics (STP) division provides scientific data stewardship of solar-terrestrial datasets in compliance with NOAA Administrative Order (NAO) 212-12, "Management of Environmental and Geospatial Data and Information", dated 04 Nov 10. Scientific Data Stewardship includes the Archive, Access, and Assessment (AAA) of operational and related solar and space environmental datasets.
