1 OAR-Oceanographic (Fish) Lidar This airborne system uses green light to profile distributions of scatterers such as plankton and fish in the upper ocean. The National Marine Fisheries Service requires data on the distribution and relative abundance of commercially important fishes for stock assessment and fisheries regulation. The National Marine Fisheries Seervice also requires data on the distribution and relative abundance of non-commercial fish and plankton to assess ecosystem health.
