OAR-Ground-based Remote Icing Detection System (GRIDS)
browse graphicGRIDS is a multi-sensor observing system, developed for the detection of supercooled liquid that would cause icing on aircraft. This system also has applications for cloud physics and climate research, model parametrization and verification as well as calibration/validation activities in support of other NOAA activities. GRIDS is being developed in an incremental fashion that will yield intermediate results before the target system is fully completed.
