McCall Seamount, Eastern Slope

Comments: 400 lbs, 8 dredge bags ~ 1/2 full, mostly basalt cobbles with some beachrock and mudstone. Most cobbles covered by thin veneer of Mn crust, to several mm thick. Dredge bag 1: plagioclase and sparsely pyroxene-phyric, moderately to highly altered, relatively massive basalt, Bag 2: altered, gray-green keratophyre-like tuff or lava. Bags 2, 3, +5: gray-green to brown, moderately to highly altered, massive hawaiite. Bag 6: 1 piece, 40 x 20 x 8 cm mudstone; several pieces assorted breccia 2/ calcareous and/or Mn-crust cement; cobbles with thickest Mn-crust veneer. Bags 7 + 8: unsorted cobbles. Depth: 1000-1500 m.
