1 :
Weathering/Metamorphism: weathering - fresh
Comments: Sample Type: Basalt. Mineralogy: Plagioclase and Olivine. Weathering: Fresh. Glass condition: Some fresh glass. 1 bucket. Type 1 from this dredge. Glass samples taken for probe. 39-1 and 39-2 glass subsampled by DG. Other glass to KJ. A small bag of 4 cobbles of this sample type (unnumbered) is also included. 39-1 still has glass on 1/2 of it - sample wrapped in bubble wrap. WR 39-2 subsampled by KN.Pillow basalt fragments with glassy rinds. 39-1 is tubular shaped and has glass with pahoehoe texture over complete outer surface in many areas, with thick rind (~1 cm) and having a coating of brown Mn oxide. 39-2 and 39-3 more weathered with thinner glass rinds. Phenocrysts of olivine and plagioclase (~1 to 5%) occur in glass and whole rock (some glomerocrysts). Type 1 of this dredge?
