Southeast Indian Ridge; Sampling locale: hummocky topography in center of axial valley, segment J2.

Lithology/Mineralogy: igneous (extrusive/volcanic), basalt
Comments: Sample Type: Plg-phyric basalt. Mineralogy: Plagioclase. Weathering: Moderate. Glass condition: Some fresh glass and Mn/Fe oxide coatings. 1 sample bag. Probe glass taken. Subsampled by DG. Remaining glass to KJ. A small bag of station glass taken from dredge weight bag also included, sent to KJ. KN sampled whole rock and the remainder of it was placed in glass bag.a single, hand-size cobble of weatherered basalt with some thin glass rinds and coated with Fe/Mn oxide; some few plagioclase phenocrysts visible. Type 1 of this dredge.
