The following organization provides Earthquake data for Southeastern United States.Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory
Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory Dept. of Geological Sciences Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University 4404 Derring Hall Blacksburg, VA 24061-0420 Telephone: (540) 231-5036 Fax: (540) 231-3386 Email: chapman@vt.edu OR vtso@vt.edu Website: http://vtso.geol.vt.edu/outreach/vtso/ The Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory (VTSO) is located on the Virginia Tech campus. The seismic network operations conducted by Virginia Tech are part of a cooperative effort to monitor seismicity in the southern Appalachian region. The VTSO operates a fully calibrated, digitally recording seismic network with stations in Virginia and southern West Virginia. Earthquake detection, location and analysis of data by members of the Southern Appalachian Cooperative Seismic Network is facilitated by rapid access to Virginia Tech data via the Internet. See the webpage for updates of current projects. VTSO also contributes to the CNSS (Council of the National Seismic System) composite catalog, a world-wide earthquake catalog which is created by merging the master earthquake catalogs from contributing CNSS member institutions and then removing duplicate events, or non-unique solutions for the same event. Data is available through hard copy, magnetic tape and an FTP site.
