Earthquake readings are received from almost 3,000 seismograph stations representing every part of the globe. The Centre's main task is to redetermine earthquake locations making use of all available information, and to search for new earthquakes, previously unidentified by individual agencies. The ISC currently produces two publications, the Bulletin of the ISC and the Regional Catalogue of Earthquakes. It also holds a stock of the former publications Bibliography of Seismology 1965-1995, and Felt and Damaging Earthquakes 1976-1990. The ISC can also provide technical searches. The semiannual Regional Catalogue of Earthquakes is relevant to detailed studies of seismicity and the one most sought by institutions such as consulting engineering firms and insurance companies. It contains
Earthquakes that have comments indicating that they were felt or caused damage are extracted and listed separately in Felt and Damaging Earthquakes (publication now ceased). The complete Bulletin and Catalogue are available on a series of compact disks. The Bibliography of Seismology appeared twice a year, giving full reference to seismological publications. The Centre's Historical Earthquake File is a continually growing file. It contains earthquake locations from 1904, although only major earthquakes are present for earlier years. The Centre also has a collection of seismological bulletins, travel time tables, and maps. Pricing information is available from the Sales Page.
