The Natural Hazards Data Resources Directory has been made available online by NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center with funding from the Institute for Business and Home Safety.

The Northern California Earthquake Data Center (NCEDC), a joint project of the University of California Berkeley Seismological Laboratory and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) at Menlo Park. The NCEDC is a long-term archive and distribution center for seismological and geodetic data for Northern and Central California. The NCEDC is partially supported by funding from the USGS component of NEHRP (National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program).

The NCEDC archives and distributes several types of geophysical data:

• Earthquake location catalogs.
• Earthquake phase arrivals.
• Earthquake first motion parameters.
• NCSN earthquake waveforms.
• BDSN event and continuous waveforms.
• BARD GPS data.

The major networks that contribute data to the NCEDC are:

• BDSN (Berkeley Digital Seismic Network), a network of Very Broadband seismic stations in northern and central California, run by the UC Berkeley Seismological Laboratory.
• NCSN (Northern California Seismic Network), a dense short-period seismic network in northern and central California, run by the USGS, Menlo Park. This network is also known as CALNET.
• BARD (Bay Area Regional Deformation), a GPS (Global Positioning System) network of continuous recording and periodically surveyed sites in Northern California.
• CNSS (Council of the National Seismic System), an organization of US regional seismic networks and the US national seismic network. The CNSS provides the NCEDC with a composite world-wide earthquake catalog created from the catalogs of the participating networks.
• Parkfield HRSN (High Resolution Seismic Network), a part of the Parkfield Prediction Experiment, had produced a high resolution earthquake data set as a secondary effort in the 'Controlled Source Monitoring' (Vibroseis) project.
