The following organization provides Earthquake Engineering information.

Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research

The Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research, MCEER, endeavors to improve basic knowledge about earthquakes, earthquake engineering, and seismic hazard mitigation. The Center supports and enhances earthquake hazard reduction research of MCEER-funded researchers from various disciplines and additionally serves academic, public, and private sector researchers, professional practitioners, as well as local, state, and federal government officials, and the general public. Since its inception in 1986, MCEER has developed a broad program that includes: conducting research; sponsoring conferences, workshops, and seminars; and publishing technical reports and a quarterly technical bulletin.

The MCEER Information Service is an integral part of the Center that provides a variety of services to local, national, and international users. These specialized services include: reference support; computerized literature searching of a multitude of databases; interlibrary lending and borrowing; microfiche printing and photoduplication; acquisition of books, periodicals, reports, slide sets, videocassettes, and other publications; and document delivery by postal or electronic mail, overnight delivery, and telefax. The Information Service also publishes the MCEER Information Service News, a monthly current awareness publication.

The MCEER Information Service has developed the QUAKELINE database which provides access to published information on earthquake enfineering and hazards mitigation. The content of the database includes over 32,000 records and is updated monthly. Compiled from recently published books, journals, technical reports, and other earthquake-related literature, QUAKELINE is designed to be used in conjunction with other established databases such as Engineering Index, NTIS, and GeoRef. QUAKELINE can be accessed directy via the Internet from MCEER's web site. Users can also contact the Information Service and request a search of the database. QUAKELINE is also available in a CD-ROM format as part of the Earthquakes and the Built Environment Index (EBEI). Published by the National Information Services Corporation of Baltimore, Maryland, EBEI contains the QUAKELINE database, the Earthquake Engineering Abstracts database from the the National Information Service for Earthquake Engineering at UC/Berkeley, and the Newcastle, Australia Earthquake Project database.

The MCEER Information Service maintains its world wide web site at URL http://mceer.buffalo.edu . The MCEER web site contains general information about MCEER, pulications and software, information resources and databases, a complete list of upcoming meetings and events, and links to additional sites. Additionally, the MCEER web site provides the full-text of the MCEER Information Service News and MCEER Bulletin, computerized literature searches, access to the QUAKELINE database research guides covering topics such as strong motion records and international seismic design codes, comprehensive listings of forthcoming professional meetings in the areas of earthquake engineering and hazards mitigation, and annotated listings of links to other Internet sites. Users can also contact the MCEER Information Service directly by using the Information Request Form located at this site.

MCEER's Information Service maintains an extensive collection of books, journals, technical reports, maps, CD-ROMs, slides, and audio and video cassettes.

Services are available by telephone, postal mail, electronic mail, telefax or by appointment at MCEER.
