The following organization provides Earthquake Research Information.

Center for Earthquake Studies

A large area of the central United States is at risk from damging earthquakes originating in the New Madrid Seismic Zone. The primary mission of the Center for Earthquake Studies is to help people protect themselves from these earthquake hazards through education about appropriate mitigation activities. We make educational presentations to various groups ranging from programs from young school children to professional associations. We foster awareness of eathquake hazards and their mitigation through displays at public events and media spots and announcements. We develop materials for various media to serve the public and business community. Our primary research thrust is in the development of new educational materials and more effective ways of achieving public education and awareness. Primary financial support for the Center comes from the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency and Southeast Missouri State University. Other projects and donations provide additional support. Our sponsors recognize that a small investment in earthquake hazard mitigation will yield large savings in reduced damages and casualties.

Materials and services available from the Center include printed brochures, maps, and more comprehensive information, audio-visual materials, web-page information, delivery of programs to small groups, scheduling of programs at other sites, and technical assistance and advice.

For further information contact the Center.
