National Geophysical Data Center
The Natural Hazards Data Resources Directory has been made available online by NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center with funding from the Institute for Business and Home Safety.
Institute for Business and Home Safety

The following organization provides Earthquake Research information.

Earthquake Research Institute

The Earthquake Research Institute is dedicated to continual earthquake research and data collection. The Institute is divided into the following divisions:
  • Division of Earth Mechanics
  • Division of Global Dynamics
  • Division of Monitoring and Computational Geoscience
  • Division of Disaster Mitigation Science
  • Earthquake Prediction Research Center
  • Earthquake Observation Center
  • Earthquake Information Center
  • Volcano Research Center
  • Ocean Hemisphere Research Center

In addition, the website provides access to webSEIS, which allows a search through catalogs based on date, location, depth, magnitude of earthquakes. Available catalogs are the ISC(International Seismological Centre) global earthquake catalog, the JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) earthquake catalog, and the JUNEC (Japan University Network Earthquake Catalog). Output is only a seismicity map, not an event list.

Extensive links to other useful earthquake-related technical sites are listed on the page, as well as a link to the on-line searchable library.
