Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences, New Zealand

The Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GNS) is New Zealand's former Geological Survey, which was transformed into a government-owned company in 1992. It maintains 125 years of geological data, including 30 years of geodetic data for specialist earth information studies, volcanology, erosion, landslides, sea level change.

The GNS hosts the New Zealand Hazard Watch web page which provides up-to-date inforamtion on volcanoes, floods, landslips, tsunamis, solar activity and earthquakes.

Listings of publications, geo data, software, maps, photography and other available services can be found on the webpage. Digital and hard-copy formats are available, as well as technical assistance.
