In 1996, the Western States Seismic Policy Council (WSSPC) Board of Directors approved the formation of a Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Committee. The member states are currently Hawaii, Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, California, and Guam. The emergency management representatives from Oregon and British Columbia co-chair.

The website showcases the existing tsunami-related publications of the Committee's member states. The Committee also hosts tsunami hazard mitigation symposiums and publishes the proceedings.
