The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center (CPC) provides many products to aid researchers and members of the public working in such areas as agriculture, energy, water resources, forestry, and climate research. The CPC maintains the Climate Assessment Data Base which contains daily summary meteorological and climatological parameters for over 6,000 global locations spanning the most recent 1,000 days.

The Analysis and Monitoring section of the CPC's website provides data on global and regional climate highlights and anomalies, maps showing monthly, seasonal and annual precipitation and temperature analyses, and special updates on significant climatological events. The CPC also produces a monthly Climate Diagnostics Bulletin, available online at no charge. Much of this data was formerly available in the Weekly Climate Bulletin, published from 1981 to October 1997.

The CPC's numerous data sets and other products are available at their website. The CPC can also provide technical assistance.

In addition, the CPC offers information on severe short-term US climate anomalies through the NOAA Drought Advisory. This series of special advisories reflects the contributions of various agencies, including the National Weather Service, the National Climatic Data Center, and state climatologists. The Drought Advisory is updated weekly.

Requests for copies of the Drought Advisory should be directed to the National Weather Service, Public Affairs Office, 8060 13th Street, Room 618, Silver Spring, MD 20910, (301) 427-7622.
