The Data Support Section of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, NCAR, maintains an extensive archive of computer-accessible data which is available to researchers around the world. The archive, which contains more than 500 distinct databases, provides data and information to major national and international atmospheric and oceanic research projects. Sample databases include information on surface, upper air, and climatological data, precipitation and water data, geophysical data, satellite data, and global analyses. These data typically cover long periods of record in both analyses and observations.

The website features an index to NCAR's data archives, ordering information, and links to a number of small data sets which are available for downloading via ftp at no charge. Users of NCAR's computing facilities may access the archives directly at no charge. Others may order CD-ROMs or tapes for a fee.
