The following organization provides Coastal Management information.

Coastal Services Center

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Coastal Services Center (CSC) provides information and library services relating to coastal resources. The CSC Library's collection is available to outside patrons through interlibrary loans. The Library's Coastal Zone Information Center collection contains more than 15,000 documents collected under the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972 covering over 25 years of coastal management experience. A two-year cataloging project is currently underway. As of April 1998, approximately 6,000 of the documents had been made accessible through the library's catalog.

The CSC offers several online research services. The Library's online catalog can be accessed from the Library Holdings page, as can various other collections such as CD-ROMs and maps. Several other online search services are available, including the Coastal Information Directory, a search engine that accesses various coastal-related databases, including the CSC's own catalog. Much of what is referenced in the Directory is raw data such as tidal and weather information, sea surface temperature, and turbidity data. Efforts at providing more analytical data are ongoing. The CSC is continuously searching among state and local coastal zone management programs, universities, research facilities, and the private sector for data sites to include in the Directory. Prospective sites must be coastal in nature and meet metadata standards set by the Federal Geographic Data Committee.

Other CSC projects include a Coastal GIS Bibliography, laser beach mapping, coastal remote sensing, and the Coastal Change Analysis Program.
