Hamilton County, in the metropolitan Cincinnati area, experienced an average annual economic loss from landslides of $5.80 per person (1975 dollars) between 1973 and 1978, the highest calculated per capita loss of any municipality in the United States. These processes, collectively called mass wasting, can be classified according to rapidity of movement and according to the type of materials that are transported. |
