View to the south of Highway 14 road cut that transects the San Andreas fault zone. In this area, the displacement is not confined to a single fracture but is distributed throughout the zone, and includes many folds as well as several faults. Two subsidiary faults offset the layers and form the "two legs" of a triangle. Image Credit: Clifford E. Harwood.
