This complex was located in the band of accentuated damage found along the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. The collapsed structure was built in 1926, before earthquake building codes were in effect. Forty-seven of the 58 deaths attributed to the earthquake occurred as a result of the collapse of this structure. Image Credit: E.V. Leyendecker.
