Overview Map
|
The overview map is a small, full-extent version of the arcIMS map. A red rectangle shows the geographic boundaries of the portion of the map currently on display in the map view area. If you click on the overview map, the map display area will recenter on the clicked point.

Layer List/Legend
|
This area displays either a list of available layers (and toggles to make them visible and/or active), or a legend explaining the symbols/colors used to display features.
To switch between viewing the layers list and the legend, use the layer/legend toggle tool in the toolbar .
It is important to note that:
- only the layer marked "active" in the list will be accessible to/selectable by the tools in the toolbar
- only layers marked "visible" in the list will be shown in the map area
- you must refresh the map to see layers newly made "visible" using the layer list
How to make a layer visible:
- If necessary, click on the legend/layer tool icon to make the list of layers visible.
- Click the "visible" option next to the layer that you wish to view.
- Click on the "refresh map" button below the layer list to redraw the map.
- The selected layer will now be visible on the map.
How to make a layer active:
- If necessary, click on the legend/layer tool icon to make the list of layers visible.
- Click the "active" option next to the layer that you wish to query.
- Click the "visible" option if not already selected (remember to refresh the map).

Tool Options/Data Results
|
When you select a tool from the tool bar, any options available for that tool will be
displayed in this area of the screen (for example, a form enabling selection of data
by field/value for the query tool).
Results from the identify, find, query, and various selections will also appear in this
area of the screen. Most results also include links to more data or information about
the records returned, including in some cases the ability to download the corresponding
data.
This is a beta release, more capabilities are in development.
