<abstract>
        These data were collected by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration National Geodetic Survey
Remote Sensing Division using an OPTECH ALTM system. The data includes topographic data in an LAS format file.
The data was collected 31 July - 1 August 2008 on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska. It has been processed to bare
earth using only an automated routine - additional manual editing is required for localized use. The data covers
portions of the Outer and Inner Kachemak Bay coastline from Point Anchor to Homer and along the coast into the head
of the bay. The data falls in the Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and includes the Fox River
Flats Critical Habitat Areas.
      </abstract>
      <purpose>
        This lidar was acquired by the NOAA Remote Sensing Division to support NOAA's IOCM initiative. It is not intended
for mapping, charting or navigation. In addition, it will be used for ongoing research efforts for testing and
developing standards for airborne lidar.
      </purpose>
      <supplinf>
        Data include all lidar returns (first, second, third, and last) and have been
classified to bare earth by the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) using only automated processes. "Outliers" or
"false returns" (e.g., returns from birds, atmospheric particles, and/or system noise) may be present in the data.

          The NOAA Coastal Services Center (CSC) received files in LAS format. The files contained
LiDAR intensity and elevation measurements. CSC performed the following processing on the data to make it available
within Digital Coast:
1. The data were converted from UTM coordinates to geographic coordinates.
2. The LAS header fields were sorted by latitude and updated.
3. The data was filtered to eliminate outliers.
