      <abstract>
        Foreign Winds Aloft is historical digital data set DSI-5200, archived 
at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC).
This is a collection of miscellaneous, historical, upper air winds data. 
DSI-5200 contains wind speeds and directions at various levels above the
earth&apos;s surface.
Data is from a sampling of countries over the world. Data periods vary from
station to station. The earliest data is from 1927, and the latest is from
1971. DSI-5200 includes the following historical data collections, with file
names in double-quotes:

(Sudan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, and Afghanistan)
