Environmental Assessment of the Buccaneer Oil Field in the Northwestern Gulf of Mexico 1978-1979
This data set contains analytical data from samples acquired from the Northwestern
Gulf of Mexico area under contract to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) during
1978-1979. Individual contractors included researchers from Rice University, Moody
College, and Texas A and M University. Most samples were taken from the R/V Gus III.
The project was known as the "Buccaneer Oil Field" project. Caution: numerous errors
found in this data set. LIST OF FILES: readme.txt (collection documentation), 03495004.cly.txt
(clay mineralogy), 03495004.siz.txt (sediment size analysis), 03495004.sed.txt (surficial
sediment), 03495004.tss.txt (trapped suspended sediment ), 03495004.sup.txt (suspended
particulates).

Lineage Statement | These data were contributed by the originator to NOAA's former National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) and may be part of a larger compilation archived as oceanographic data by NCEI. Data are available in their original form. Due to errors found during processing, the grain size data were not processed to the 073 format and are not included in the historic NGDC Seafloor Sediment Grain Size Database. Data were contributed on nine track magnetic tape, EBCDIC form, 80 character records blocked to 5120 characters/block. There were 2,553 total records. Positions were not adequate for processing, NODC was notified of problems. Tape contents: 14 samples/25 records type 02,03 sediment size analysis; 84 samples/1102 records type 01, surficial sediments; 14 samples/132 records type 04, clay mineralogy; 3 samples/32 records type 01 trapped suspended sediment; 205 samples/1220 records type 01, suspended particulates. |
