During the 2013 Fall Plankton Survey, plankton samples were collected from a systematic
grid of stations to assess distribution, occurrence and abundance of the early life
stages of a variety of species of fishes and invertebrates in the northern Gulf of
Mexico. The survey specifically targets larvae of red drum, red snapper, other snapper
species, king mackerel, and Spanish mackerel. A total of 180 stations were sampled
from Texas to Florida during 33 days at sea (Leg 1, 21 August - 5 September and Leg
2, 12 -28 September, 2013). |
