Worldwide Well Logs with Values of Conductivity, Bulk Density, Porosity, Grain Density, Resistivity, and Sonic Ratio Collected by the Ocean Drilling Program (ODP)
World-wide digital well log data collected for the Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) by
Schlumberger Offshore Services under contract to Texas A&M University. The data were
in turn converted to ASCII form and released to NGDC for longterm archival by the
Borehole Research Group (BRG) of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University.
Some of the data parameters contained in the data files relate to conductivity, bulk
density, porosity, resistivity, grain density, and sonic ratio. Other parameters are
present and may vary for each well log. The data were originally available on magnetic
(field) tapes produced onboard the drill ship Joides Resolution in a customer-supported
format called the Log Information Standard (LIS). The BRG at Lamont translated the
data into a publicly-readable ASCII format. These data are available and searchable
online from the BRG.

Supplemental Information |
The Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) was an international program to explore the ocean
basins funded by the Joint Oceanographic Institutions for Deep Earth Sampling (JOIDES),
a consortium of several foreign countries and the US National Science Foundation.
ODP is managed by the Joint Oceanographic Institutions (JOI).The Deep Sea Drilling
Project (DSDP), the predecessor of the ODP, operated from 1967 through 1983.Beginning
in 2003, the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) replaced the ODP.
