<datasetDescription>From May 18, 1975, until June 20, 1975, Geophysical Service, Inc., acquired 1,954 miles of multi-channel seismic reflection data. These data were collected under Permit 75-09 issued by the Minerals Management Service (MMS). The MMS acquired these data on September 28, 1976, under Contract 14-08-0001-16413. The MMS is required to keep this information proprietary for 25 years from the date that the Government signed the contract to acquire the information. Therefore, the processed seismic sections are now available to the public through the Marine Geology and Geophysics Division of the National Geophysical Data Center, Boulder, Colorado. They will be responsible for making copies and marketing these data. Under Permit 75-09, one vessel was used. The M/V Cecil H. Green used an air gun array with a capacity of 1,200 cubic inches. The energy sources were suspended from the vessel at a depth of 30 feet. The navigation for this survey consisted of a GEO NAV satellite system, integrated with LORAN C. The vessel towed a 3,525-meter cable with 48 groups of hydrophones. The sampling rate was set at 4 milliseconds. Recordings were made on Texas Instrument DFS IV. Data were collected with a 5-second record length. The streamer was towed at a depth of 30 feet. The data was processed as a 36-fold stack. The final displays are true amplitude and scaled (after automatic gain control) was applied.</datasetDescription>
<purpose>This survey collected data for geological and geophysical exploration of oil and gas on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). The MMS has acquired this data in order to insure that the Federal Government receives fair market value for leases issued for oil and gas exploration and for other regulatory functions.</purpose>
