Globoturborotalita rubescens Hofker, 1959

Globoturborotalita rubescens (Fig. 29) is a rare species which is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical water masses with a tendency towards higher relative abundances in warmer surface water. It is restricted to areas where temperatures at 200 m exceed 10-12 °C but tolerates the entire range in other physical conditions to be expected in tropical and subtropical environments. The broad tolerances of this rare species suggest a limiting factor which is not part of the physical environment described by the analysed parameters (see G. tenella and discussion section).
