Dr. Chris Elvidge Chris Elvidge leads the NGDC Earth Observation Group. He received a Ph.D. in Applied Earth Science from Stanford University in 1985. From 1985 through 1988 he was a National Research Council research associate at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. From 1988 through 1998 he was on faculty in Biological Sciences and the University of Nevada, Desert Research Institute. During 1991-93 he was a visiting scientist in the EPA's global change research program office in Washington, DC. Elvidge moved to NGDC in 1994 to lead the nighttime lights program.
