John Kinsfather John Kinsfather is Chief of the Information Services Division at the NOAA/NESDIS National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC). As the senior Information Technology (IT) person at NGDC, he also reports to the NOAA/NESDIS CIO as the NGDC representative on the NESDIS IT Architecture Team (ITAT) overseeing plans and policies for all NESDIS major computer and network systems. He has 28 years of experience with NGDC planning and implementing computer systems for the management of environmental data. His educational background is in geology, geophysics, oceanography and computer science. Before coming to NOAA he was with the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office doing marine geophysical surveys.
