Ron Weaver Manager, Distributed Active Archive Center, National Snow and Ice Data Center Cooperative, Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado Ron Weaver is the Manager of the Distributed Active Archive Center National Snow and Ice Data Center, located at the University of Colorado in Boulder. The NSIDC DAAC manages and distributes environmental satellite and in situ data describing the earth's cryosphere, to users in the scientific research community as well as the general public. The Data Center currently houses approximately 80 Terra Bytes of digital data in its archives. Major data management programs include: ingest, archival and distribution of snow and ice products from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Radiometer on NASA's Terra and Aqua satellites, sea ice and snow cover extent products derived from passive microwave data collected by the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR-E) on the Aqua platform and from the Special Sensor Microwave Imager on USAF Defense Meteorological Satellite Program satellites.
