This is the aageovu.txt file in the root directory of the CD-ROM. This disc offers several options for exploring the data contained therein: 1. Set your World Wide Web browser on file aareadme.htm in this directory, and proceed from there. 2. Read or print files cdrom.txt, cdrom.ps, or cdrom.htm to explore the data more directly. or 3. the option described here: The GeoVu data browse and visualization system. This CD-ROM contains a directory \software (off the root directory). Within that directory are subdirectories: freeform (data format utilities - see aareadme.1st files in that subdirectory) geovu (data browse, visualization, subsetting utilities - the subject of this file) html (support files for the "plastic Website" contained on this CD-ROM. You can probably ignore this directory.) The \software\geovu directory contains version 2 Release 6 of GeoVu, a data browse system developed at NGDC. Subdirectories: documnt contains documentation for GeoVu mac contains the Apple Macintosh version of GeoVu pc contains the IBM-compatible PC version.. unix_sgi contains the Silicon Graphics version.. unix_sun contains the Sun workstation version.. Check the "aareadme.1st" files in those directories for more infomation. The aareadme.1st (and the almost identical aareadme.htm) files contain information for installing GeoVu for the appropriate (PC, UNIX, or Mac) computer. More thorough documentation on installing and using GeoVu can be found in the \software\geovu\documnt directory. In addition, that directory contains information for developing your own support files, should you like GeoVu and want to use it for your own data (including adding GeoVu to your own CD-ROMs).
