The file geovu.tar.Z is a compressed tar file containing the GeoVu executable and associated files. Download this file in binary mode (if via network) or copy this file (if from a cdrom) and place it in the directory where you wish to install GeoVu (typically your home directory). Then enter the following commands: uncompress geovu.tar.Z tar xvf geovu.tar This generates a "geovu/" directory and a simple file "g2". The "g2" file is an X applications defaults file to be put into your home ("~") directory. The "geovu" directory is what should be pointed to by the environment variable GEOVUDIR. For example, if you use the C Shell, put the following line in your .cshrc: setenv GEOVUDIR ~/geovu (Of course, this assumed you un-tar'd geovu.tar in your home directory - though this is not necessary) The GeoVu executable is called "g2". See gvquick.* and gvhelp.* for more details on using GeoVu.
