Jaeggar Seamount, S Slope

Comments: 10 lbs; 1 sm. Boulder 15 cm, 2 cobbles 5~10 cm each, all taken as hand samples. 1 - aphyric, vesicular alkalic basalt (hawaiite?), vesicules ~ 20% filled with phosphorite, covered partially with adhering hyloclastic breccia and covered with Mn crust several mm to more than 1 cm thick. 2 - 10 cm cobble of calcareous, hyloclastic (?) breccia, permeated with dendritic Mn-staining and being replaced by phosphorite. Mn-crust, to 2 cm thick, also fragmented and cemented with phosphorite, covered with mm Mn-veneer. 3 - yellow green hylocastic sandstone with sparse basalt fragments covered with patchy mm Mn veneer. Depth Range: 1850 - 2150 m.
