Comments: ~ 450 lbs., 9 cloth bags. ~ 70 samples, all with some Fe-Mn coating. Ave. Fe-Mn crust thickness of 1-3 cm. Variety of substrate, but mostly mudstone or indurated calcareous brown clay. Substrate ranges from altered basalt breccia with Fe-oxide staining to volcanoclastic breccia with clasts of vescular basalt and matrix of Fe-Mn (?) to brown indurated, calcareous clay with open Mn-lined burrows (clam bioturbation?). Crust thickness ranges from 33 to 1 mm. depth range: 1225 - 1325.
