The CD collection was a compilation of all of the earthquake catalogs, both US and non-US, in the National
Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) archive available in 1996. The purpose was to provide users with access
to all the seismicity data in one place. The data was formatted to be accessed with the NGDC-developed
GeoVu software.
The CD collection was compiled from all of the earthquake catalogs, both US and non-US, in the National
Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) archive available in 1996.

NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information
NOAA created the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) by merging NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), and National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), including the National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC), per the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015, Public Law 113-235. NCEI launched publicly on April 22, 2015.
