Lineage information for:dataset
Lineage Statement These data were contributed by the originator to NOAA's former National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) and may be part of a larger compilation archived as oceanographic data by NCEI. Data are available in their original form. Due to errors found during processing, the grain size data were not processed to the 073 format and are not included in the historic NGDC Seafloor Sediment Grain Size Database. Data were contributed on nine track magnetic tape, EBCDIC form, 80 character records blocked to 5120 characters/block. There were 2,553 total records. Positions were not adequate for processing, NODC was notified of problems. Tape contents: 14 samples/25 records type 02,03 sediment size analysis; 84 samples/1102 records type 01, surficial sediments; 14 samples/132 records type 04, clay mineralogy; 3 samples/32 records type 01 trapped suspended sediment; 205 samples/1220 records type 01, suspended particulates.

Processing Steps
  • 2015-04-22T00:00:00 -NOAA created the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) by merging NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), and National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), including the National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC), per the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015, Public Law 113-235. NCEI launched publicly on April 22, 2015.
