Archive of Geosample Data and Information from the University of Wisconsin Ice Island T3 Core Collection

browse graphicimage of sea floor sample locations
From 1963 to 1972, 349 piston cores were collected from the Arctic Ocean using Ice Island T3 as a sampling platform and sent to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for curation. Dr. David Clark of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Geoscience made a one-time contribution of metadata describing these Ice Island T3 piston cores to the Index to Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples (IMLGS) database. No further data are expected from this core repository. All cores in this collection are from latitudes above 77 degrees north in the Arctic Ocean.

Lineage Statement Data were a one-time contribution from this repository. Incoming data were checked for adherence to controlled vocabularies, illegal data types in numeric fields, and out of range latitudes/longitudes. NCEI performed cursory visual inspection of data for reasonableness, asking the originator for guidance on discrepancies.
