These data are required to support any potential claim for an extended continental shelf by the United States under United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) Article 76. The requirement is for the collection and processing of full-coverage multibeam sonar data in water depths of approximately 2000 to 5500 m in order to precisely define the location of the 2500-m isobath and the "foot of the slope" as defined under UNCLOS Article 76. As part of their NOAA-funded research program, University of New Hampshire (UNH) researchers oversaw data acquisition, processing and archiving of the data collected during the cruise. credit: Andrew A. Geophysical Data function: (CI_OnLineFunctionCode) information role: (CI_RoleCode) publisher abstract: The Marine Trackline Geophysics database contains bathymetry, magnetics, gravity and seismic navigation data collected during marine cruises from 1939 to the present. Coverage is worldwide. Data sources include both US and foreign oceanographic institutions and government agencies. This map service shows tracks (both ship and airborne) for all geophysical surveys in the database, split into sub-layers by data type. This dynamic map service allows these sub-layers to be toggled on/off: All Survey Types (0) - visible by default; Bathymetry (1); Gravity (2); Magnetics (3); Multi-Channel Seismics (4); Seismic Refraction (5); Shot-Point Navigation (6); Side Scan Sonar (7); Single-Channel Seismics (8); Subbottom Profile (9); Aeromagnetic Surveys (10). Separate cached (tiled) map services are also available for several of these layers: All Survey Types (https://noaa.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=589adaec19ba48a9942ca9b13000c46d), Bathymetry (https://noaa.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=09dba3b48e8b49f4bcbf21f6e51ef6ed), Gravity (https://noaa.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=00cb8aa7607b4f11b78ef5a0e77921f5), Magnetics (https://noaa.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=09d6cfa8909545ddbfe93657ad761222), and Single-Channel Seismics (https://noaa.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=ff835a5df139428f992a6066151ffdda). pointOfContact: (CI_ResponsibleParty) individualName: NCEI GIS Team organisationName: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information contactInfo: (CI_Contact) address: (CI_Address) electronicMailAddress: ncei.gis@noaa.gov role: (CI_RoleCode) pointOfContact descriptiveKeywords: (MD_Keywords) keyword: DATA ANALYSIS AND VISUALIZATION > GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS > WEB-BASED GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS keyword: DATA MANAGEMENT/DATA HANDLING > DATA SEARCH AND RETRIEVAL keyword: DATA ANALYSIS AND VISUALIZATION > VISUALIZATION/IMAGE PROCESSING type: (MD_KeywordTypeCode) theme thesaurusName: (CI_Citation) title: Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) Service Keywords date: (CI_Date) date: 2020-01-09 dateType: (CI_DateTypeCode) publication edition: 9.1 citedResponsibleParty: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Earth Science Data and Information System contactInfo: (CI_Contact) onlineResource: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/learn/find-data/idn/gcmd-keywords name: Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) Keywords description: The information provided on this page seeks to define how the GCMD Keywords are structured, used and accessed. Brown is the flagship of the NOAA fleet. Named in memory of a former the U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary who perished in a plane crash in 1996, the ship is a state-of-the-art oceanographic and atmospheric research platform. The Ron Brown, as it is commonly and fondly known, is equipped with an array of advanced instruments and sensors. From its home port in Charleston, South Carolina, the ship has sailed the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, conducting scientific studies to increase our understanding of the world's marine environment. The Ron Brown carries a complement of 5 NOAA Corps officers, 20 crew members, and can accommodate up to 33 scientists. The crew's primary responsibilities involve day-to-day operations. This includes routine data collection and management tasks related to the ship's mission as a scientific research platform. sponsor: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: DOC/NOAA/OMAO/MOC-A > Marine Operations Center - Atlantic, NOAA Marine Operations, NOAA Office of Marine and Aviation Operations, NOAA, U.S. Department of Commerce contactInfo: (CI_Contact) phone: (CI_Telephone) facsimile: 757-441-6495 address: (CI_Address) deliveryPoint: NOAA/OMAO/MOC-A deliveryPoint: 439 West York Street city: Norfolk administrativeArea: VA postalCode: 23510-1145 country: USA electronicMailAddress: David.A.Score@noaa.gov onlineResource: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: https://www.omao.noaa.gov/omao/marine-operations-center-atlantic-moc name: Marine Operations Center - Atlantic description: NOAA Marine Operations Center-Atlantic (MOC-A) serves as a homeport for one NOAA survey ship and provides administrative, engineering, maintenance and logistical support to NOAA's Atlantic fleet. function: (CI_OnLineFunctionCode) information role: (CI_RoleCode) pointOfContact instrument: (MI_Instrument) citation: (CI_Citation) title: C-Band Doppler Radar date: (unknown) identifier: (MD_Identifier) code: C-Band citedResponsibleParty: (CI_ResponsibleParty) individualName: Dr. Larry Davis organisationName: Radtec Engineering, Inc. contactInfo: (CI_Contact) phone: (CI_Telephone) voice: 303-438-8745 facsimile: 303-438-8820 address: (CI_Address) deliveryPoint: 2150 West 6th Avenue city: Broomfield administrativeArea: CO postalCode: 80020 country: USA electronicMailAddress: larry@radar-sales.com onlineResource: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: http://radar-sales.com/systems-rdr.html role: (CI_RoleCode) resourceProvider identifier: (MD_Identifier) code: RDR Doppler Weather Radar Systems C-Band type: C-Band Doppler Radar description: Coaxial magnetron, solid state IGBT modulator, and integrated low noise receiver front end, provision for future capabilities such dual polarity operation. instrument: (MI_Instrument) citation: (CI_Citation) title: SeaBeam 2112 Multibeam Echosounder alternateTitle: Sea Beam 2112 date: (unknown) identifier: (MD_Identifier) code: SB2112 citedResponsibleParty: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: L-3 ELAC Nautik contactInfo: (CI_Contact) onlineResource: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: http://www.elac-nautik.de/contact-contact/highlite-contact/322fa9862948e6f0530dcae7c7e8df7f/ role: (CI_RoleCode) resourceProvider identifier: (MD_Identifier) code: SeaBeam 2112 type: Multibeam Echosounder description: Seabeam 2112 (12 Khz) swath bathymetric sonar system. The system, originally used for high accuracy (Seabeam Classic) charting of the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), is capable of hydrographic charting and seafloor acoustic backscatter imaging in water depths of 50 to 11,000 meters with up to 151 beams. Swath coverage (75 percent of water depth) varies as a function of depth, from 150 degrees at 1,000 meters, to 120 degrees at 5,000 meters, and 90 degrees at 11,000 meters, with a resolution of two degrees. The system regularly operates in 4000+ meters of water but is effective in shallower applications (less than 500m). |
