Gravity Field of the Southern Ocean Data Files September 23, 1992 All binary files SOGRAV[2].[BIN,DOS] have logical records of 3601 4-byte floating-point numbers. Data in SOGRAV.BIN start at 72.00 deg. S latitude, 0.0 deg. E longitude, proceeding 0.1 deg Eastward for each point. After point 3601 (360.0 deg E), the next record begins 0.05 deg. north, or 71.95 deg. S latitude, and so on to the end of the file at 60.00 S lat. Data records are in "bottom-upward," or S->N order. The files SOGRAV2.[BIN,DOS] have the same records as above, but in reverse ("top-down," or N->S) order, starting at 60.00 deg S and stepping by 0.05 deg. southward to 72.00 deg. The data points within the records are still in west-to-east (L-R) order. Data Format: SOGRAV.BIN: Floating Point Binary, hi-byte-first (Sun, Macintosh format). Record order S->N. Logical record length = 14404 bytes. SOGRAV2.BIN: Floating Point Binary, hi-byte-first (Sun, Macintosh format). Record order N->S. Logical record length = 14404 bytes. SOGRAV2.DOS: Floating Point Binary, lo-byte-first (PC, VAX format). Record order N->S. Logical record length = 14404 bytes. SOGRAV.ASC: ASCII text, fields as follows: Byte 1-7: Longitude, byte 8-14: Latitude, byte 15-28: gravity anomaly, Mgal, byte 29-30: .
