Summary: The NGS Absolute Gravity data (78 stations) was received 
in July 1993. Principal gravity parameters include Gravity Value, 
Uncertainty, and Vertical Gradient.  The data are randomly spaced 
worldwide.

Positional data are variable in their precision.  Some locations 
provided positions recorded to the nearest 1-minute (i.e.  
Hsinchu, Lung Tan, and Ta Hsi), while others recorded to 0.1-
seconds.

The original absolute gravity data was contributed by Daniel 
Winester of NOAA's National Ocean Service in a text format (see 
absolute.asc).  For certain applications, this data structure 
would prove difficult; therefore, the data were transcribed (by 
Scott L. Hittelman) into a tabular, flat-file format (see 
absolute.bin).  In transcribing the data, mean values and their 
associated errors were omitted.

Several program files to read the September, 1992 version of the 
data base are also included.
