Note on CME files: CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) files include both the official runs and test runs. Test runs are files that were generated for evaluation purposes but were determined to be less accurate than official runs. In some cases test runs are wildly inaccurate.
NCEI is working on a better method of filtering out test data. In the meantime, for information about distinguishing test runs from official runs, or for other WSA-Enlil questions, contact vic.pizzo@noaa.gov.
Background Runs vs. CME Runs: Background includes all runs with a quasi-steady corotating structure, including high-speed streams, magnetic sector structure, etc. This is the steady outflow produced by the open magnetic structure given by the WSA maps. CME runs include the mass ejections launched into the most recent ambient steady flow.
