WDC-A for MGG Report 4

published by the
National Geophysical Data Center (now the National Centers for Environmental Information)

This report constitutes an important compendium of basic information derived from sediment cores recovered from Deep Sea Drilling Project drill sites in the Pacific Ocean. Site summaries and lithologic logs are presented in a standardized condensed format and include information on age, rock type, composition, lithologic boundaries, percent carbonate, percent biogenic silica, bulk density, and porosity. Data presently scattered through some 90+ volumes of reports of the DSDP and an array of scientific literature are pulled together into a single volume which can serve as a body of general information for broad-based studies, or as a first point-of-reference for highly focused studies.

Listed below are the headings of this 5-part volume:

  • PART 1. Introduction and Explanatory Notes
  • PART 2. DSDP Phase 1 (1968-1970)
  • PART 3. DSDP Phase 2 (1970-1972)
  • PART 4. DSDP Phase 3 (1972-1975)
  • PART 5. DSDP IPOD (1975-1983)

The entire report contains 447 pages and was prepared by the Deep Sea Drilling Project staff and provided to World Data Service for Geophysics, Boulder for publication by the National Geophysical Data Center (now the National Centers for Environmental Information) . More DSDP and ODP data are also available.
